Collection: Subway Tiles

Subway tiles are a popular style for kitchen splashbacks and bathrooms. They derive their name from the very first subway tiles installed in New York train stations in 1904.

The traditional shape of this style is rectangular tiles with a 2 x 1 proportion. More recently, though, the name has expanded to a greater range of tiles so long as they have generally long and thin proportions. These also include arrow tiles.

Subway tiles are typically either ceramic or porcelain, and can come in a range of finishes including glass, matte or textured.
